Yahoo Buys MusicMatch for $160 Million Dollars
Source BBC: Yahoo is taking on iTunes and Napster by adding MusicMatch to its arsenal - hoping to double traffic from 13 million listeners to 24 million after the deal is complete. MusicMatch has about a quater of a million subscribers and 700,000 song titles.
The one puzzler is what we thought Steve Jobs said many times: there is no money in selling songs. The money is in selling the song players, but maybe Yahoo can scale things and turn that notion upside down. Interesting.
